It is a shelf on the wall in a boy's room. He is about 10 years old. It is completely autobiographical. I remember my favorite drawing instrument as a child was the Ticonderoga #2 pencil and it's in here. Also I had this nifty velour bag full of collector's-item marbles, and one day I remembered I once had a beautiful violet colored aluminum ball that I would toss in the air in boring times. All that is there in one of my favorite paintings. The only concession to the modern day is the yellow sticky note I painted as an afterthought that says, "Lunch, 1:30 p.m." because as I was painting it, I remembered the appointment. The object of this painting was the Trompe L'oeil concept of fooling the eye with a 3-dimensional painting on a 2-dimensional surface.
